The Magic of the Right Brain

From age 0-6, the right brain is most active. After six, the left brain takes over for the rest of the life.

"The left side of the brain is the seat of language and processes in a logical and sequential order. The right side is more visual and processes intuitively, holistically, and randomly." Quote

The way babies learn numbers is not by counting the dots, but by visual glance. If you remember the movie Rain Man, the character played by Dustin Hoffman was the extreme of the adult right-brain domination. He could tell how many matches in a box by glance at them. The cards on the gambling table were pictures in his mind. 1+2=3 was not numerals to him, but real objects. He had photographic memory. However, one should not worry about a normal baby to grow up like him, because the rise of the left brain will take care of the language and logical thinking.

So, between the ages 0-6, "the window of opportunity" described by Dr. Glenn Doman is presented to every parent with a newborn.

For the life of your child, DO NOT MISS IT

It is called in Japan shichida method. Glenn doman and shichida method of early childhood education is adopted all over the world. The main difference between the Glenn Doman method and shichida method is at the repeat rate. Glenn Doman focuses on impression. Glenn Doman baby dot flash card cards method flashes for a few times and move on. Glenn Doman treats dots, words and pictures are all pictures, images to kids brain. shichida baby flash card cards method focuses on repeated flashes. shichida flashes many more times to a baby, and tries to let baby memorize the pictures or images. Many parents ask me if the pattern of the dots on the math dot flash cards makes the difference. If you read Glenn Doman book "How to Teach Your Baby Math", you will see that Glenn Doman disregarded the pattern. To a baby, it's the picture or image that matters. It's up to you to pick the focus, image or memorising. Personally, I prefer Glenn Doman method to Shichida simply because I like to jump around. I think my kids get bored very soon.
